Arrested Development Set To Release First US Material In Over 12 Years
The critically lauded Arrested Development is set to release Since The Last Time (Vagabond Records &Tapes), the bandÕs first album of new material in over 12 years.
One of the most influential bands of the positive hip hop movement and known for their political and socially conscious lyrics, Arrested Development exploded onto the scene in 1992 with the Grammy-winning album 3 Years, 5 Months and 2 Days in the Life Of É spawning the international hits ÒTennessee,Ó ÒMr. WendalÓ and ÒPeople Everyday.Ó The album ultimately sold over 4 million copies and was #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and reached #7 on the Billboard Top 200. The group was also awarded two MTV Music Awards for Best Rap Video (ÒTennesseeÓ, ÒPeople EverydayÓ). Press accolades flooded in from urban, alternative and mainstream press, and Rolling Stone declared them ÒBand of the Year.Ó
Now with the October 30 release of Since The Last Time, Arrested Development is poised to re-join the ranks of the consummate bands and musicians they helped inspire, such as the Black Eyed Peas, who Arrested Development recently played an unprecedented gig with in Jerusalem, as well as The Roots and Common. Even brand new acts like Gym Class Heroes have cited the bandÕs influence. Group frontman Speech collaborated on ÒBiterÕs BlockÓ off that bandÕs highly successful new album.
Since The Last Time was produced by Sam Hollander and Speech and recorded in New York and Atlanta. The album features 12 brand new tracks, including ÒMiraclesÓ, which will be the first single. Other key tracks include ÒSao PauloÓ and title track ÒSince The Last Time.Ó ÒThis album is a mixture of an easy going but lively songs meant to stir up belief and thirst,Ó says Speech of the release. In addition, a special mix tape will be available October 30th on Vagabond Record &Tapes that features 18 classic and unreleased AD gems, plus hot collaborations, including Gym Class Heroes, TY, DJ Hasabe &Braille.
