Press Release: A Fine Frenzy Contributes "Let It Snow" to Starbucks’ Stockings By The Fire

A Fine Frenzy has contributed a newly recorded track, the dreamy, ethereal "Let It Snow (in California)," to Starbucks' Stockings By The Fire. The compilation is in stores now. Listen to the song: http://virg001.edgeboss.net/wmedia/virg001/a_fine_frenzy/a_fine_frenzy_let_it_snow.asx?

Sudol which just wrapped up VH1's "You Oughta Know" Tour 2007 with Brandi Carlile, has been named an Editor's Choice "Best New Artist" in the iTunes Best of 2007. A Fine Frenzy's iTunes Live Session, scheduled for release on December 27th, will include live versions of four tracks from the her acclaimed debut album, One Cell in The Sea: lead single "Almost Lover," "The Minnow and The Trout," "Borrowed Time" and "Last Of Days."

"The melodies on this debut are breathless…imbued with piano swells," said Entertainment Weekly. "Such attention to the dramatic works wonders on stripped-down tunes like 'Almost Lover,' which lets Sudol's delicate voice take center stage." Paste awarded it four stars and found it "bursting with talent" while Harp observed: "A Fine Frenzy is a blend of sounds and influences…..where there's Ella, Aretha and Louis, there's also Radiohead, Sigur Rós, Aqualung and Keane."

Sudol, who will be in Vogue's January issue, is looking forward to the holidays. Her #1 wish? "A perfectly peaceful day of walking my dog, eating lovely food, seeing friends over coffee, playing the piano, watching movies and getting lots of hugs," she says. Her complete top 10 is below, but for Alison the real joy is in giving and she still fondly remembers her early gift-making efforts.

"I was about four years old and we were celebrating at my grandparents' house," she recalls. "Late on Christmas Eve, I decided to make special gifts for my family all by myself. I took large amounts of red and green yarn and turned them into these strange, tumbleweed-like blobs that looked like hairballs from a cat that had gotten into the holiday decoration box. I thought they were beautiful and proudly handed out far more than necessary to my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles with a big grin. It's the thought that counts!"
