THE FUNERAL PYRE hits the road for tour with Book of Black Earth
Southern California's THE FUNERAL PYRE hit the road today for tour alongside Book of Black Earth. The tour will begin on Friday in Book of Black Earth's hometown of Seattle, finishing in THE FUNERAL PYRE's hometown of with Book of Black Earth and fellow Los Angeles band Intronaut. As the final tour in support of THE FUNERAL PYRE's latest second full-length, 'The Nature of Betrayal,' the band will hit the studio to track with John Haddad (Eyes of Fire, Intronaut, Abysmal Dawn) in late February and March before sending tracks off to Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Cannibal Corpse, Through The Eyes of the Dead) for mastering. The album, tentatively-titled 'Wounds,' is scheduled for a July release through Prosthetic Records.

"Melding grizzly death metal growls and ear-piercing black metal screeches with eddying keyboard harmonies has been done before, and has absolutely no reason to sound this fresh. But it does. And with deep, operatic production and interesting lyrics throughout, there's always something going on...The Funeral Pyre provide us with a terrifyingly coherent record that indicates there may be some amazing things ahead for this band." - Kerrang magagzine
"TFP magick up a shimmering storm of piano- and keyboard-augmented blackcore that's at its most succulent when tempos slow down and they roll out the rallentados. By Plauge That Leads to Extinction and especially the mournful Stealing the Air of Life, they've made you forget whatever childish prejudicees you might have against bands with keyboards..." - Decibel magazine
"Every song on their Prosthetic debut delivers a distinctly Euro-inflected combination of black and death metal, and does so with icy ferocity." - Revolver magazine
"The general rip factor on several songs is what reminds to some extent of Swedish melodic death metal, and even bits and pieces of what is heard from The Black Dahlia Murder." - Blabbermouth
