SANTA MONICA, Calif. and SEATTLE (Jan. 2, 2008) — Starbucks Entertainment commemorates the 50th Annual GRAMMY® Awards with an exclusive collection of 30 GRAMMY Award-winning hits on two CDs. The remarkable collection, The GRAMMYs — 50th Anniversary Collection, offers songs hand-selected by Starbucks Entertainment from the wealth of great songs honored by The Recording Academy® in the last 50 years, including hits from Beck, Sheryl Crow, Culture Club, Dixie Chicks, Gorillaz, Norah Jones, Frank Sinatra, John Lennon, Sarah McLachlan, and Otis Redding, to name just a few. The 50th Anniversary Collection is available exclusively at the majority of Starbucks company-operated locations in the United States and Canada starting on Jan. 3, 2008.

"We are pleased to present an exceptional GRAMMY compilation that spans various musical genres over our past 50 years into one collection," said Neil Portnow, President/CEO, The Recording Academy. "The opportunity to create the 50th Anniversary Collection in partnership with a forward-thinking company such as Starbucks provides a wonderful new avenue to offer great GRAMMY music to fans."

"Every song on this collection is a classic. Some are so connected to a moment in our lives that they will instantly transport you back to the year they earned their award. Others are simply timeless," said Ken Lombard, president, Starbucks Entertainment. "It was a tremendous honor to work with The Recording Academy and Shout! Factory to create this unique collection of GRAMMY Award-winning songs for our customers."

"A GRAMMY song is one that has done the impossible. It has burned itself into your DNA. GRAMMY songs are our shared history," writes Quincy Jones — 27-time GRAMMY Award winner and The Recording Academy's 50th Celebration Ambassador — in the 50th Anniversary Collection's liner notes. "These songs represent the best of the GRAMMY Awards' first 50 years. These are B-A-A-A-D-D songs. They're in the pocket; they've got the groove, the melody and the vocals that make them timeless."

The GRAMMYs — 50th Anniversary Collection is a co-release by Starbucks Entertainment and Shout! Factory. The Recording Academy will donate a portion of its proceeds from the CD set to benefit its two charitable arms, the MusiCares Foundation ® and the GRAMMY Foundation®. MusiCares provides a safety net of critical health and human services and financial assistance for music people in times of need. The GRAMMY Foundation cultivates the understanding, appreciation and advancement of the contribution of recorded music to American culture through music education programs for young people and activities that promote and preserve music's rich cultural heritage.

The 50th Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place on Feb. 10, 2008, at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on the CBS Television Network (8–11:30 p.m. ET/PT).
